Put out a tray of these “cocoa pops” and cups of steaming milk and you will be surprised how quickly they disappear.

They melt into the warm milk for a decadent hot chocolate.

In my house, they disappear quickly, even without the milk. 🙂

Cocoa Pops (Recipe from King Arthur Flour)

1/2 cup heavy cream

14 oz sweetened condensed milk

18 oz semisweet chocolate (cut into pieces or use chocolate chips)

4 oz unsweetened chocolate (cut into pieces)

lollipop or popsicle sticks

Whisk together the heavy cream and condensed milk. Keep on low heat on stovetop until steaming.

Remove from heat and add in the chocolate. Whisk in the chocolate until just combined.

Put back on the stovetop on low. Whisk vigorously until mixture is thick, smooth and shiny.

At this point add in your favorite flavoring if you want (not required). Some optional add-ins: vanilla extract, mint extract, ground cinnamom or instant espresso powder. My dad’s recommendation- freshly grated ginger.

Pour into prepared pan.

Once the mixture cooled a bit, I covered the pan with another sheet of parchment paper and left on the counter to set overnight.

Once the mixture is set, remove from the pan and cut into squares- around 1×1 inches.

Insert the popsicle or lollipop sticks.

These are ideal to stir into a cup of hot milk for an amazing hot chocolate.
